5 Reasons Why I Blog

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I've been reading a lot of other Voguette's blogs and thinking about why theirs are so much cooler than mine.

I guess what it comes down to is that this isn't a fashion or beauty blog, from the start it has always been about me. Somewhere to map out my thoughts on things and work on sending my life in new directions.
I'm not sure I've achieved that original goal but here are 5 reasons why I blog:

1. I love to talk and it's nice to imagine that someone is listening. I feel like I have something important to give the world, I just don't know what it is yet.

2. Between this blog and the Vogue forum, I feel like I have friends. I still have only a handful in Melbourne and find it hard to keep up-to-date with my Brisbane ones.

3. It gives my life a little more purpose. SJ and I aren't doing much right now while he's unemployed and having a blog is a cheap 'hobby' for me. I feel like I achieve something each day I write a blog post (how sad does that make me?).

4. I want to share my life and my thoughts and in particular, my photographs. Ironic when only 1 or 2 pictures on this site have been taken with photography in mind. The rest are dedicated blogpost shots on my camera phone. That's something I need to change.

5. To inspire myself (and hopefully others one day). Writing this blog is highlighting the deficiencies in my life, so it's helping to inspire me to make more changes.

Hopefully soon I will start living up to the name I gave myself! Though at least the new town/new job this year makes me feel like less of a fraud.

To fix #4 I might write a few posts with older photos I have taken and love. And trips I have been on. Time to share something of substance.

Oh and if anyone cares, my nail polish today is OPI Chapel of Love and it matches my shirt :-) and I love these shoes, houndstooth print Pierre Fontaine's I bought a few years ago.

  1. I started blogging a couple of years ago... I used blogging as my own "dear diary" platform... I don't think anyone was reading my blog though, then I deleted it because I felt I had nothing valuable to share with the world. Then I started sewing last year and thought it would be a good topic to blog about. I always dreamed of being a journalist when I was in highschool, and I guess blogging gives me that "creative" release :)

I am new to your blog and am enjoying going through all your fun and exciting posts :D

    1. Thanks Neeno :-) Glad you're enjoying my blog.

I'm terrible with a needle and thread (and goodness, don't let me near a sewing machine!) but I am looking forward to reading your blog too :-)
