Exercising Alone (Without ID) and OOTD

Firstly, yes I realise how odd that picture looks but I was actually wearing my running shoes at the time...they're not just stuck on the side of the photo...

This post is intended to be a little bit of a community service announcement, I went for my run this afternoon and put on my Road ID and thought about how everyone who exercises alone should wear one.

What is a Road ID?

Mine is a slim wrist band that has my full name, SJ's name, his mobile number (and a note that he is my partner) plus the mobile numbers of each of my parents and their home phone number in QLD.

When I run, I don't usually take my phone or wallet with me, so if something were to happen (and heaven hope it doesn't) if I as unconscious, whoever found me could call my next of kin. I'm not allergic to anything nor do I have any medical disorders, but that sort of information should go on these things too.

SJ has owned one for years, he chooses to wear it on a chain around his neck and has it on him most of the time he leaves the house. I like the wrist band and only wear it when I'm exercising. I do have to admit, I feel much better knowing that when he disappears on a ride or goes mountain biking, my contact details are with him.

So if you exercise alone and don't carry ID, check them out, you can pick one up for less than $20 including postage. Oh I also bought a second band in red, in case I want to look different you know ;-)

Today's outfit. Black work pants, white with black polka dot shirt...which frequently looks like a 'nurse' style uniform, adding a little grey cardi means I get the cinched waist and the ruffles around the neckline are more of a feature. Dodgy photo in the work bathroom, have really lost motivation for good blog posts and photos of late, work has been busy and all this exercise takes time! Will try to improve soon. Planning on wearing my new Blue Jeans on Friday!

  1. Hi Miss Directions, thanks for posting about the road ID. I've been meaning to get one!

    1. With how often you are exercising, you definitely should! Considered putting my blood type etc. on there as well but it's not critical.

    1. They are. Plus paramedics etc. are apparently trained to check for them. Good too, because if something happened I wouldn't remember SJ's mobile off the top of my head anyway!

  3. What a great idea. I have been looking at getting a medic alert bracelet/Necklace since my diagnosis 2 weeks ago...so this is very topical!

    1. You should definitely! It's worth it for that little piece of mind.

  4. Awesome idea! Not something most people would think of until the day something does go wrong and its too late.

    1. Well I didn't get one until after my bike fall, SJ was worried about future events and doesn't like me running without my phone. $20 is nothing for something like that, and they are kinda cute :-)

  5. What a great idea! Thanks for posting :-)

Relying on having my dog with me who has my husbands phone number on her collar...probably not such a great idea!

    1. Oh Emma. I guess if you have a loyal dog that's okay, still doesn't hurt to have something on you :-)
