A visit from Mum

I was lucky enough to have a visit from my mum a few weekends ago. Was quite a busy period with our Perth guests leaving on the Monday, my netball grand final on the Tuesday evening and a work trip on Thursday and Friday.

We won the grand final (wasn't expected!) and the work trip was overnight in Nathalia, three hours drive north and almost at the border. I was able to take SJ with me though so that made it a little less boring.

Mum arrived on Friday evening and on Saturday we went shopping in the city and had lunch in Chinatown. The floral pants and coordinated shirt and flats is my Mum's outfit of the day. I love her pants but I'm not game enough to wear something like that myself.

Oh and I did spend a little money myself, a new outfit from Zara which I haven't worn yet so I shall blog about it later.

Over the weekend we also had a Twilight marathon on DVD (bought them for $8 each at JB) and then went to see the new one. SJ even got sucked into the story and came along too.

Sunday we spent a bit of time in Williamstown checking out the markets and eating ice cream. Mum and I were a bit matching, I bought tan flats to match her coral ones...as you may know, I don't usually do flats, but for $29 from Payless I figured I'd give them a try. They flattered my foot and were more comfortable for my high arch than any of the ones I had tried in DJs/Myer. They have a rubber sole that almost looks like a football studded boot...makes ground impact quite cushioned.

Anyway, we got home that evening and were treated to fireworks from the balcony. Quite a nice end to the day.

Then on Monday I took a flex day off work and drove mum around some of the 'outer' Melbourne areas (basically St Kilda and Richmond haha) and we did a little shopping on Bridge Road. I picked up a few bargains from Ojay in their 50% of sale (including a gorgeous cobalt blue lace dress) and then went across the road to a leather shop and bought a red leather jacket...slightly over any budget I may have allowed for the weekend but wait until I show you the jacket!

Mum and I went to the airport together, I put her on a flight home to Brisbane and got on a flight to Sydney an hour later. I'll post on that next...

  1. I love your Mum's pants, they are cool. I don't think I could pull them off either though.

Loving your catch up posts. Still bummed I didn't get to meet you! Little Nephew and his timing, ha!

    1. Hmm did I mention that I had chocolate and toffee apple flavours? The toffee apple was a smooth apple icecream with ribbons of red toffee through it...might have to make another trip this weekend come to think of it!
