Started our camping trip with a lunch stop in Ballarat by Lake Wendouree.
Some of the locals seemed quite interested in us.
Spent the night at the Smiths Mill Campground. The fire (and firewood provided by a friend) was certaintly appreciated.
Dinner was quick and easy (on the Baby Q we brought with us).
And our luck must definitely be changing. This is exactly what it looks like...Bird Poo. Thankfully on my clothes and not in my hair (no showers!) or in my food...it's supposed to be lucky, right?
I froze overnight. Is it any surprise? 1 degree at almost 8am.
First stop of the day (after sitting in the car with the heater on for a while) was at Mackenzie Falls.
An advantage of being one of the first on the track, we spotted a deer. They are technically a pest and can be hunted, just not within the National Park.
Next stop was the Balconies. Once upon a time you used to be able to go and stand on them...no thanks.
This little guy was attempting to fight the cold in the sun, right on the track. Wasn't fazed by us either, he was there on our way out and on the way back.
Final walk of the day was up to the Pinnacle. Great views from the top!
Here I am catching my breath.
Was a pretty good weekend, despite the cold. I'm loving this Melbourne sunshine!
I'm off to Miss Fox tomorrow night for a makeup lesson in colour. Will give me something interesting to post about this week.
And no news on the job fronts yet.

DeleteI love the Grampians! And I love camping! Don't envy you for the cold though. There's a bakery in Halls Gap which does the BEST vanilla and jelly slices. Yummy! :)

ReplyDeleteWe love the grampians and go every year. Never done it as rough as you though...we always stay in a nice guest house somewhere...They have the best ice cream btw, in case you haven't tried it.

ReplyDeleteAhh your post just brought back memories of my grampians trip! I went there twice in 2003. We did the pinnacle (that walk was a killer!!) and mackenzie falls, and the balconies, etc. I have a photo of my Dad standing right on the edge of the balconies... soo scary! lol. I remember seeing deer there as well.
