Last Wednesday evening I attended a make-up colour workshop at the salon where Luna and Trish, the incredibly talented make up artists (and hair colourists and stylists and general magicians), demonstrated the fundamentals of great makeup.
The session started at 6pm with a scheduled finish time of 7:30pm and cost $25, which was fully redeemable against makeup purchases. I have to admit, I expected the evening to be a bit of a plug for the Jane Iredale range stocked by Miss Fox, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Trish and Luna gave a demonstration on one of the attendees and taught us about proper shading and highlighting and matching colours to your skin tone etc. We learnt the basic rules of makeup and when and how you can break them.
They allowed everyone to ask questions and the evening didn't wrap up until 8:30 after they dealt with all the individual colour matching requests from everyone and gave advice on the best products to use.
I came away with these products, a highlighting concealer for the grey under eyes I frequently have. I've used it once already without foundation and I'm really happy with it.
An eyeliner/brow brush which I am going to use with the gel eyeliner I bought from Bobby Brown on Saturday (at Trish's recommendation). I am terrible with liquid and never get the results I want from pencils.
I also bought a facial mist and a large blending brush which had to be ordered.
I also walked away with a cute 'goodie' bag with some samples, lollies and a $20 discount off my next Miss Fox visit.
I wore a black dress with tights and a new cropped red jacket I bought from Forcast in a sale last week...this is before the under eye concealer was tested on me...obviously.
I also had a discussion with Victoria (Miss Fox herself) about my eyebrows and what I could/should do about them.
My next threading appointment is this Friday and she suggested I get them tinted by Brow Therapy. I'm wary of tinting after my last tint was way too dark and I had to have it corrected (after I attended a family wedding!). In the end, she suggested I get them done by Luna who could apply all her colourist and makeup artist knowledge to make them perfect.
So I booked an appointment for Saturday morning.
Here's the result. They look a little red (taken as soon as I left the salon) but the colour has eased off since showering. I'm really happy with them, definitely not too dark or 'Oscar the Grouch' looking for once!
After my visit to Miss Fox I also picked up a new bottle of OPI Big Apple Red (I've used my last one up completely!) and grabbed a bottle of Danke Shiny Red which I can't wait to try out.
And just to leave you with a funny shot...I thought this was an interesting window from Forever New...
Looking good, Miss Ash!
ReplyDeleteI have heard such good things about Miss Fox.
Thanks for the lovely review Ashleigh - we hope you had fun on the night and learned some good stuff from our stylistas! See you soon xx

Love the nail polish.. But seriously do not like the threading there. Rip off and badly done... literally. I pay $8 now.
